Wind Down

Our dimmable warm Wind Down light bulbs simulate the soft glow of late afternoon light, minus the disruptive blue light that can interfere with restful sleep. You'll feel calmer and more relaxed, as your body naturally unwinds and prepares for sleep.

Our exclusive Wind Down light spectrum is designed to help your body and mind naturally unwind in the evening. And, unlike regular LED's, our lighting is tuned to sync with your natural circadian rhythms.

• For use in lamps and lighting fixtures
• Ideal for rooms you use primarily during evening hours

DID YOU KNOW? The key to restorative sleep is the right light exposure before bedtime. This is because specific wavelenghts of light signal melatonin (the sleep hormone) as well as a drop in body temperature -- both essential for your body to naturally prepare for sleep. The wrong lighting can disrupt this natural process, making it difficult to unwind in the evening.

Wellness Specs
• Melanopic/Photopic Ratio (M/P): 0.45
• Circadian Stimulus (C/S): 0.167 @ 150 lux
• Flicker Sensitivity (PST): Less than 0.7%
• % of Blue Light: ≥ 0.83%
• Energy Star Certified for energy efficiency

What is Melanopic/Photopic Ratio (M/P)?
Our Photopic vision is what we have during the day in a well-lit space. Our Melanopic vision is the biological impact of light. A higher M/P (above 0.8) means the light is more stimulating and better for day time use. A lower M/P (below 0.5) means the light is less stimulating and better for night time use.

What is Circadian Stimulus (C/S)?
C/S was developed by the Lighting Research Center (LRC) at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute. This metric indicates how well a one-hour exposure to a light source producing a certain light level and wavelength of light stimulates the circadian system, based on its ability to suppress the hormone Melatonin. Exposure to a 0.3+ C/S is effective for Melatonin Suppression, which is ideal for day time use.

What is Flicker Sensitivity?
Flicker is the visible change in brightness of a lamp due to rapid fluctuations in voltage and power supply. Many individuals are sensitive to flicker, which can cause health risks like eyestrain and headaches. UL (the Global Safety Science organization) identifies “Low Flicker Risk” as a Flicker Percent of less than 8% at 50Hz and less than 10% at 60Hz. All Brilli products have a Flicker Percent of less than 1% at 50Hz.

What is the right Blue Light percentage?
Blue light in the 460-510 nm range is responsible for Melatonin suppression. This light is good by day, as it promotes energy, focus and alertness. However, there is consensus in the healthcare community that exposure to cool blue light should be minimized beginning 2 hours before bedtime, at a percentage of less than 2%.

THE RIGHT LIGHT to help you naturally unwind

THE RIGHT LIGHT to help you naturally unwind

Modern living has us surrounded by low quality, stimulating indoor light. Receptors in our eyes ingest this light, which in turn disrupts our sleep cycles. And new research shows that people exposed to the wrong type of light after sun down tend to have a harder time falling asleep, have less REM sleep, and wake up feeling sleepier. That’s why we designed our Wind Down bulbs with a light spectrum tuned to reduce stress, promote relaxation, and help the body naturally unwind.

But don’t take our word for it.

Magical lighting. These were recommended to me and they have definitely made a difference. I feel like I'm calmer and fall asleep easier.

Noticed I fall asleep faster and feel tired sooner. A nice addition to my bedroom.

Our little one is less fussy and fidgety and falls asleep more easily.

Unlike regular LED lighting, our scientific approach to design starts with human health and wellness benefits. We first consider how the light will impact your circadian rhythm, mind and mood, neuroaesthetics and visual comfort, and the potential for eyestrain and headaches caused by bad lighting design. We then factor in 7 key color quality metrics, plus energy efficiency—because light should be beautiful and good for the planet, too.

How is Brilli Lighting Different?

Optimal Circadian Stimulus (C/S)

Optimal Circadian Stimulus (C/S)

Exposure to a 0.3+ C/S is effective for melatonin suppression, which is ideal for day time use but not for evening use. All Brilli lighting has optimal C/S depending on time of day.

Optimal Melanopic/Photopic (M/P)

Optimal Melanopic/Photopic (M/P)

A higher M/P (above 0.8) means the light is more stimulating. A lower M/P (below 0.5) means the light is less stimulating. All Brilli lighting has optimal M/P depending on time of day.

Optimal blue light %

Optimal blue light %

Cool blue light should be minimized in the evenings at a percentage of less than 2%. Brilli Wind Down bulbs have only 0.83% blue light, and Get in Sync fixtures (at low setting) have 1.6% blue light.

Ultra-low flicker sensitivity

Ultra-low flicker sensitivity

UL (the Global Safety Science organization) identifies “Low Flicker Risk” as a Flicker Percent of less than 8% at 50Hz and less than 10% at 60Hz. All Brilli lighting has less than 1% at 50Hz.

Minimized eyestrain

Minimized eyestrain

Eyestrain is a common condition that can occur from prolonged exposure to poor lighting with too much flicker, glare, or poor color and contrast. All Brilli lighting is designed to minimize eyestrain.

Optimal visual comfort

Optimal visual comfort

Visual comfort is a physiological reaction to quality of light within a given space, including aesthetic quality, ambience, luminosity and absence of glare. All Brilli lighting is designed for optimal visual comfort.

ENERGY STAR certified

ENERGY STAR certified

ENERGY STAR products must contribute to significant energy savings, while delivering features and performance in addition to energy efficiency. All Brilli lighting carries Energy Star certification.

For Best Results

Think of Brilli like a vitamin that supplements your sunlight exposure. You will notice some benefits immediately, and some over time.

• Wind Down bulbs should be used throughtout the evening. You should begin to experience the benefits after 20 minutes.
• Make sure you're within 10 feet of the light so it comes in contact with your eyes.
• Use Wind Down bulbs at the dimmest setting for a more relaxing effect.
• All lighting in the room should be the same. For example, don't use Charge Up and Wind Down lights together.

Changing the world,
ONE LIGHT AT A TIME

Through our partnership with Watts of Love, every Brilli
purchase brings light to a community that lacks access to resources like electricity, education and economic
independence. Because we believe that light is vital to life, and that light should shine equally on all.
